Eco-School

We are proud to announce that this April 2017,we have been awarded GREEN FLAG ECO SCHOOL status for the second time !

This means we have successfully included environmental education both inside the school and the school grounds ,covering the 9 ECO school topics -ENERGY,TRANSPORT,BIODIVERSITY,HEALTHY LIVING,SCHOOL GROUNDS,BIODIVERSITY,WATER,WASTE,LITTER  AND GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES .

We have a dedicated team called the ECO AGENTS  who meet up regularly with Miss Wilcock to discuss the environmental issues which effect our school and the wider world and how we can take action!
 REDUCE,REUSE,RECYCLE  is our motto!

We strongly promote outdoor learning and gardening activities within the school.

We would like to thank Groundwork's 'carriers for causes' scheme for awarding our school a grant of £953 to spend on our educational garden .We have put this to good use by buying some outdoor seating around a wheelchair accessible table and some building wood to replace rotten wood on the workbench tops and  raised beds .

Our school community has raised the target of £300 for the TOILET TWINNING scheme which helps fund a school in a developing country to build a toilet block and install a water tap .We have now received the certificates to twin the staff room toilet and year 2 toilet block.  This raises our pupils awareness about the importance of clean water and sanitation ,it also highlights our roles as global citizens and how we can help others less fortunate than ourselves .

We would like to thank Veoila for donating 200litres of compost and soil improver to benefit the gardening and planting activities in the school -most gratefully received !

This Summer, our school garden was awarded first prize from the Basingstoke in Bloom in the 'school garden with the most edible plants' category . Well done to all those pupils who planted seeds ,tended and watered the garden during the growing season.

Park view infant school is an ongoing member of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight wildlife trust ,this means pupils benefit from access to interesting  outdoor activities on the last saturday of every month in our local area-check events on our website and on classroom doors .See Miss Wilcock if your child would like to become a Basingstoke Junior Wildlife Watch member.

We have an Eco board in the front entrance of our school so that you can see what we are up to. We would welcome any of your ideas of anything you think we could be doing or improving on in our ECO SUGGESTIONS BOX .
